Minimal invasive procedure is needed for patients with severe co-morbidity to treat prostate hematuria as well as enlarged prostate, where the patients have difficulty getting rid of the large residual urine. Embolisation of the prostate, like transure- thral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT), is a treatment option. Embolisation of the prostate could be a treatment principle that has room for selected patients for the most frequently used surgical treatment - transurethral prostate resection (TUR-P).
Advantages of embolization over TUR-P are that treatment:
An outpatient / day case treatment can be performed
Is performed in local anesthesia
Is not accompanied by the same complications as surgery (bleeding, TUR syndrome)
The course in embolization will focuses on patient selec- tion, surgical/radiological techniques, patient work up and how to handle the perioperative period e.g. pain, There will also be discussions how to maintain and develop prostate embolization competence in the future.

Diplomas will be handed out to participants at the end of the course. For PhD students the course can, if there is a request, be a part of the PhD programme and supplementary information can be given.
Who can apply for the course?
Radiologists, urologists and technicians with special interest in embo- lization and treatment of prostate. PhD students in the field of prostate, cancer or embolization. Residents in urology and radiology with special interest in prostate treatment and surgery.
The course is given in English.
PhD students who would like to include this course in their education, please specify in your application. You will then be asked to prepare a case to present during the course. A group discussion beforehand can be arranged for preparation of the presentation as a part of the PhD programme.
